About Encounter

A Little History

In 1992 Encounter Revival Ministries was established out of a burden for the discipleship of young people and the need for spiritual renewal among believers. Originating in Charlotte, North Carolina, by Ardy Parlin, Encounter began as a team of young adults trained in music and youth ministry for schools and churches. Encounter soon expanded to include week-long church meetings with a special emphasis on spiritual revival.

In 1997, Encounter moved its headquarters to Mt. Lou San Bible Camp, located in Harrisburg, PA. From here, the ministry continued to grow as each year young men and women continued to commit a part of their life to the ministry and discipleship available at Encounter Revival Ministries.

God has continued to bless the ministries of Encounter for over 25 years, and each day more and more people are being reached with edifying Biblical teaching and the good news of the Gospel. In addition to a full schedule of revival meetings in various states, Encounter's ministry has multiplied overseas in India, Zambia, and Myanmar. Encounter strongly supports native missionaries in each of these countries to assist in caring for orphans, widows, the poor, the sick, and the spiritually lost - showing Christ's love in dark and needy places to make the Gospel known.

The Ministry Today

Today, Encounter continues to fulfill the mission Ardy set out to accomplish in 1992. The goal has always been to share the truths of God's Word for salvation and spiritual vitality through:

Our Role with Encounter

Our role will be that of the Team Director. We will serve under Mark and Valerie Hopkins, who oversee Encounter's local church ministries and discipleship programs. As we disciple the Encounter team members, our goal is to encourage them to use their gifts in daily, tangible ministry opportunities. We will travel with the team, help with the many ministry needs, and share the life-changing truths of God's Word with families, churches, and communities around the country.

We will continue to invest in the team members during the summer months while we serve together at Mt. Lou San Bible Camp. Mt. Lou San has been an essential part of our spiritual development, and we are excited to play a role in this wonderful ministry.
